About this siteThis site contains many search services related to the culture of Akiba. Akiba (Akihabara, located in the eastern part of Tokyo) is famous for its electronics shops, but has recently turned into a tourist spot for both foreign and Japanese visitors. In addition to electronics, there is a large number of shops catering to otaku (fanatics) of various kinds (for example animation, games, computer parts, and maid fetishes). The main service will search all web pages related to Akihabara. The individual services for each category will search the web pages related to that category. Almost all of the web pages indexed are written in Japanese. The "non-Japanese Web Sites" category contains pages written in English, Chinese, Korean, and other languages. The Akihabara English blog search service is a search service that allows one to search just the blogs related to Akihabara that are written in English. The top page of this service lists some of the recent hot keywords, which are searchable with just one click. In addition, the most recent 10 blog articles have direct links, and there are pages listing the most recent 100 articles. In the search results page, search refinement candidates and recent frequency data of the searched keyword are displayed.
Technical details about the search servicesThe search services on this site are using the WiSE EC V1.0 search engine software. Details about WiSE can be found on the Business Search Technology home page. These search services use the search, internationalization (i18n), and grid technology of WiSE. Akiba-search.net is running on a cluster of three self built machines running linux (Fedora Core). The web sites and blogs indexed in the search services here have been chosen by both humans and software. However there may be some Akihabara related sites missing from the search databases.
